Welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of Eritrea to the United Nations in New York.

My hope is that this site and the links will offer our visitors with up-to-date information on the State of Eritrea and the Mission’s endeavours in the United Nations.

Eritrea is fully engaged in the United Nation’s reform process and hopes to further enable the United Nations refocus its priorities and become a more effective multilateral institution in addressing the challenges of the day.

Eritrea joined the United Nations in 1993, as a full fledged member, soon after it has achieved its independence through 30 years of liberation struggle and a UN supervised referendum.

As Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Eritrea to the UN, indeed I am privileged to contribute to enhancing cooperation with member states of the UN and with the UN Secretariat to ensure effective representation of my country at the global community of nations.

I wish to take this opportunity to invite you to visit the young African nation with enormous opportunities. Eritrea’s strategic location with a coastline of about 1200 km along the busiest Red Sea corridor and its two major ports could serve as a hub of international business, investment and financial activities. I would also like to highlight and ascertain to our visitors that the Government and the people of Eritrea are playing a significant role in the development of the country by utilizing the outstanding national resources.

In conclusion, it is my sincere hope that you will discover, first through this website and then, hopefully, through your own actual travels, more about the State of Eritrea’s history, geography and distinct culture & customs of its people.

Thank you for visiting our website.
